Structure Fire Reported

On Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at approximately 8:15 p.m., the Arkansas City Fire/EMS Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 400 block of South A Street.

Upon arrival at the scene, crews discovered a garage apartment engulfed in heavy flames. Once the fire was contained, crews remained on the scene for three hours to extinguish all hot spots. The Winfield Fire/EMS Department provided additional support.

The estimated damage resulting from the incident is $45,000. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
