Arkansas City man arrested in connection with vehicle burglary, theft

Sedam also accused of theft from motor vehicle, criminal carrying of weapon

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (Aug. 4, 2021) The Arkansas City Police Department arrested an Arkansas City man early Aug. 2 in connection with burglary and theft from a motor vehicle.

Curtis Lewayne Sedam Jr., 31, was arrested on suspicion of one felony count of burglary of a motor vehicle, as well as one misdemeanor count each of criminal carrying of a weapon and theft.

He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield in lieu of $5,500 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City.

Sedam remained in custody at the time of this release.

Officers were dispatched about 8:40 a.m. Aug. 2 to the 1100 block of North First Street for a report of a suspicious man in white hat, looking inside of vehicles. He reportedly entered a white pickup truck.

Police located the parked truck, with Sedam in its passenger seat. The truck’s owner was located and he told officers that he did not know Sedam, who did not have permission to be inside his truck.

When Sedam was found, he was wearing a white hat that also was allegedly stolen from the truck.

Sedam, who was found in possession of brass knuckles, was taken into custody without incident.
