Two separate Structure Fires Reported

Arkansas City Fire/EMS Department responded to two structure fires in a 24-hour period.

 

On Monday, January 15, 2024, at approximately 8:15 p.m., crews were dispatched to the 11000 Block of 266th Dr. for a reported structure fire.

 

The incident involved heavy fire throughout the structure, which required over an hour to bring under control in freezing temperatures. Crews remained on scene for two and a half hours to extinguish hot spots.

 

The estimated damage is $60,000, and the cause is under investigation.

 

Winfield and Udal fire departments aided. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

 

Less than 24 hours later, on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Arkansas City Fire/EMS Department responded to the 7900 Block of 322nd Road for another reported structure fire.

 

Crews found fire in an exterior wall, and within 15 minutes of arrival, the fire was under control. Crews spent an additional hour on the scene to extinguish hot spots.

 

The estimated damage for this incident is $5,000, and the cause is under investigation. Winfield Fire/EMS Department responded but was later disregarded. Again, no injuries were reported.
